Microsoft Cancels Eolas-Related Software Changes

From: Microsoft

Subject: On second thought...

Hi guys!
We talked this over with some of our users, and it turns out they don't want us to break IE after all. So we're not going to. Thanks for your feedback though, and we’ll see you in court real soon!

XOXOXO,
Microsoft

Linux will grow up to be Eminem?

Some doofus at Slate thinks so. Ads like this always fool me into wasting a weekend installing and configuring a linux box, and i finally get it all done only to find out that it does about 75% of what my windows machine does. Except poorly and ugly and painful to keep up to date. People keep telling me LAMP is all that, and may be it is, but i think that X has no business on a home desktop. Maybe what i need is a Mac?

Justin Frankel

AOL has got to be one of dumbest companies i've ever heard of. Who in their right mind pays $100 Million for an MP3 player? Evidently the same people who pay i-dont-even-want-to-think how much for a web browser you can only give away and a web server nobody wants. Brilliant, those boys.

I wonder if we'll ever start passing the "new economy" kool-aid around again? While i'm glad to be rid of the irrational exuberance, i confess i miss the general optimism.

Tools for Modern Living:

The modern world requires new skill in order to succeed. Luckily Amazon has all the resources you need to make in this crazy new age. I suggest you start with Ninja Mind Control followed by some Ninja Secrets of Invisibility.

iPod's Dirty Secret - Neistat Brothers

Stupid iPod. I ended up returning mine because it would hang when trying to play variable bit rate mp3s encoded with LAME. But now it seems that the internal battery is not all that. Erica kept hers, but i think we're going to upgrade her to a Nomad ZEN Xtra. I've had mine for several months now and i have to say, it's pretty cool. There will never be add on gadgets for it since it doesnt have a fancy data port, but then it plays everything i throw at it, gets great battery life and NotMad Explorer from Red Chair Software is about a million times better than the software available for the ipod for PC.
